Artist Statement

My photography journey started quite late in life, but for me it was the right time. The driving force of my practice is my love of Architecture and Documenting the demise of heavy industry. My skills were improved in an HND course at Northumberland College and then a BA(hons) degree at University of Sunderland.

The first real project I undertook was Newcastle Central Station, this wonderful station and it's curved roof hold such beauty and character. The people that pass through the station create amazing reflections in the shiny floors, yes shiny floors ! Does anyone notice the curve of the roof or the reflections on the floor? With this work I hope to bring this to the attention of those passing through.

Documenting the demolition of The Smelter at Lynemouth is still ongoing, but after 3 years I am now documenting it's regeneration.

I am also part of the editorial team on The Ashington District Star. We are a small Arts Council funded group producing a photographic Journal consisting of images of everyday life in Ashington and it's surrounding area.

I enjoy working with the public that is why Weddings and Christenings are part of my practice.I especially enjoy catching the candid images, people caught off guard can result in wonderful and interesting images.
